Paid $70 for My Metal Detector… Found a Dollar Store Item
Sometimes metal detecting delivers the perfect punchline.
I paid about 70 bucks for my detector, headed out for a regular park hunt, and pulled a classic dollar-store item out of the ground. Not a silver coin. Not a ring. Just a good old-fashioned cheap treasure that probably cost a dollar when it was new.
And you know what? It was still awesome.
That’s the beauty of this hobby. One day you dig a keeper, the next day the ground hands you a reminder to stay humble and keep laughing. Budget gear, budget finds, and still a reason to keep swinging.
If you’ve ever recovered something that made you shake your head and smile at the same time, you know exactly how this felt.
