Pull Tab, Ring, or Nickel? Bounty Hunter Tracker Tone Mode Mystery Solved – It Was a Nickel!

Pull Tab, Ring, or Nickel? Bounty Hunter Tracker Tone Mode

Pull Tab, Ring, or Nickel?
Bounty Hunter Tracker Tone Mode Delivers a Nickel

Hey friends, Zeke (aka Glenn) here.

If you’ve spent any time with a Bounty Hunter Tracker in tone mode, you know that familiar mid-tone. It could be a pull tab. It could be a ring. Or it could be a nickel. The machine doesn’t always make it easy to tell the difference, and that’s part of what keeps the hobby interesting.

This round, the ground decided to be kind. That uncertain signal turned into a nice little nickel.

I was swinging along, got the tone, checked the target ID, and still wasn’t 100% sure. But the golden rule still applies: dig it if you’re curious. A few scoops later and there it was – a classic nickel sitting in the dirt. No jewelry this time, no trash either. Just a solid coin and another reminder that tone mode keeps us honest.

These ambiguous signals are common with the Tracker, especially in parks or places with a mix of old coins and modern trash. Pull tabs, aluminum, and nickels can all land in a similar range. Experience helps, but the only way to really know is to dig. And honestly, that’s half the fun.

If you’re new to the Bounty Hunter Tracker or still learning the tones, don’t get discouraged by the “maybe” signals. Every dig teaches you something. Some days it’s a pull tab. Some days it’s a ring that makes your heart jump. And some days, like this one, it’s a nickel that quietly adds to the collection.

What about you? Have you had a mid-tone lately that surprised you? Was it trash, treasure, or something in between? I’d love to hear about it.

Keep swinging, stay curious, and I’ll catch you on the next hunt.
