I hit a park playground that had just been freshly mulched.

As expected, there was plenty of trash to dig through, but I stayed persistent and managed to pull a penny out of the grass!

Lesson of the day: Even on junk-heavy hunts, one decent find makes it all worthwhile. The breakeven quest continues!

Fresh mulch can be tough to hunt, but it’s always interesting to see what turns up. Sometimes the best finds are hiding right where people walk every day.

Sometimes the best finds come from the places most people walk right past.

On this coin hunt I focused on “working the gaps” — the tight spaces between the playground border and nearby structures. Most of my coins came from exactly those overlooked areas, including a nice 3rd quarter of the day.

Lesson learned: Slow down and hunt the spots others skip. The tight gaps can hold some great coins!

It’s always satisfying when a simple strategy turns into solid results. These little wins keep the hunts exciting.
