Suggested Metal Detecting Gear: SP24 Nokta Coil Field Test

Some hunts call for a smaller coil, and the SP24 Nokta coil is built for exactly that. In this episode, Zeke (aka Glenn) takes the SP24 out for a real‑world test, working tight areas and tricky pockets where bigger coils struggle to separate good targets from the junk.

This hunt isn’t about stacking up huge finds — it’s about seeing how the SP24 handles separation, trashy ground, and those borderline tones that keep you guessing. Smaller coils demand patience and control, but they can reveal coins and targets hiding in places most detectorists walk right past.

If you’ve been wondering whether a smaller coil is worth adding to your Nokta setup, this field test gives you an honest look at what to expect. Real signals, tight spaces, and a coin or two to show for it — this is what practical gear testing looks like in the field.

The Truth About Digging Trash Signals: What Real Metal Detecting Looks Like

The truth about metal detecting is simple: if you’re not digging trash, you’re not finding treasure. In this episode, Zeke (aka Glenn) leans into the reality of real detecting — foil, cans, mystery tones, and the occasional surprise that makes all the junk worth it.

This isn’t a highlight reel of nothing but perfect finds. It’s the honest, in‑the‑dirt process every detectorist knows: learning your machine, reading sketchy tones, and deciding when a “trash” signal might actually be hiding something better. These moments are where the real learning happens.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re digging too much junk — or not enough — this hunt is a reminder that treasure isn’t just about what you pull from the ground. It’s about the patience, the decisions, and the stories you bring home. This is what real metal detecting looks like.

Throwback Hunts & Modern Finds: Fisher 1225x to Simplex+ (Part 3)

There’s something special about looking back at the journey — not just the finds, but the machines that carried me through each chapter. For me — Zeke (aka Glenn) — the Fisher 1225x will always be the detector that taught me patience, curiosity, and the thrill of chasing signals that could be anything from a crusty penny to a silver coin.

In this video, I’m sharing Part 3 of my classic highlights, blending old YouTube Shorts from my Fisher 1225x with more recent hunts using the Nokta Makro Simplex Plus. These clips capture the raw, simple joy of metal detecting before I had better gear, better editing, or even a real plan — just me, the machine, and whatever the ground wanted to give up that day.

And now, with the Simplex+ in hand, the adventure continues. New tones, deeper targets, and a fun personal challenge: I’m working to pay off my metal detector using only clad coins I dig up. It’s slow, steady, and surprisingly motivating. Thanks for being part of this community and for supporting these throwback‑meets‑modern adventures — it means more than you know.
